Dental Insurance in Alabama
Protect your oral health and wallet with affordable dental insurance that covers routine care, procedures, and major dental work.
What Dental Insurance Covers
Most dental plans use a three-tier structure: preventive care (cleanings, exams, X-rays) is typically covered at 100%, basic procedures (fillings, extractions, root canals) at 80%, and major procedures (crowns, bridges, dentures) at 50%. Plans usually have annual maximums ranging from $1,000 to $2,000.
Who Needs Dental Insurance?
Original Medicare (Parts A and B) doesn't cover routine dental care. If you have Medicare and need dental coverage, you'll need a separate dental plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes dental benefits. Dental insurance is especially important if you have ongoing dental issues, need major work, or want to avoid high out-of-pocket costs for unexpected procedures.
Types of Dental Plans
DHMO Plans have lower premiums but require you to use network dentists. PPO Plans cost more but let you see any dentist, with lower costs for in-network providers. Indemnity Plans offer the most freedom but typically have the highest costs and require you to file claims.
